Now to analysise some ☺

First of all: onemanga.

I think it’s been set up pretty well, with updates on the home page where you can see them easily. The background is black and the header is colourful, with pictures of anime/manga people on it. Which is good since it’s a site you read manga off. They have boxes around the text, white on the main text, and a light grey on links to mangas and chapters and they have a selection scrolly thing (below, only smaller and clearer) which helps a lot. Overall, i think it’s really good, but layout is slightly boring, though.

Now onto the next one: Ravenwings blog

I like the banner, but maybe its text could be moved just a little bit so that there’s space between it and the purple lining. the “about” text at the front is cute. the layout is nicer than mine T-T (but i’m daring to be different )

And lastly, i shall analyse wikipedia

The design of Wikipedia is very drab, which, i think, is both a good and bad thing because wikipedia is an informative site, so it would be bad if people couldn’t read it, but it also makes it hard to read too much. the font and colour of the text is practical. but there is often a lot of scrolling to do without links back to the top of the page.

Well, using complementary colours might not be a good colour scheme because they’re not easy to look at for too long. 

From there it depends on the website you are designing, like less colours for a more businessy look, but be careful, too little colour will look very boring

but also don’t put in too many colours, it will look hyperactive and garish.

in this example, the colours clash and the text is small, the combination of these makes it hard to read.

leave white spaces for text, so that you can read it, and if the rest of the site is colourful, the white will stand out.

Harmonious colours create a nice affect

harmonius colours are ones that are close to each other in the colour wheel

intense colours are good for drawing attention to a particular spot.

Greg Apodaca is a professional photographer and his site is aimed at potential employers so that they can see his work and who he has previosly worked for.
His structure and layout is very professional looking; it has some colour but doesn’t look gaudy.
